Join us and show your support for mental health

I am passionate about removing the stigma from mental health. I suffered from depression for many years before turning my life around with a daily practice of meditation and Reiki. Over the years I have worked with many clients who suffer from mental health issues including stress, anxiety and depression.
 
I have friends who are affected by mental health issues and I know of several people who have been through the trauma of losing someone to suicide - including my own family. Mental health is therefore something close to my heart and I wanted to organise this walk for several reasons: -
 
1.To raise awareness of mental health issues - it is OK to talk about what is going on in your head. It is time to remove the stigma associated with mental health problems.
 
2. To demonstrate the power of mindfulness as a tool for relaxation and stress management.
 
3. To raise much needed funds for a local mental health charity, Inspire (formerly Niamh).
 
The walk will be taking place on Sunday 20th August, leaving from the Pickie Park area in Bangor, County Down at 10:30 a.m. and heading to Holywood along the beautiful coastal path. 
 
You can walk as far as is comfortable for you. Some people may wish to bring their children and/or their dogs and therefore may only want to walk as far as Crawfordsburn and back. For the more adventurous or fit, why not go the whole way to Holywood and perhaps even enjoy some refreshments at the Dirty Duck! You can then choose whether to walk back or jump on the train to save your tired feet!
 
Being mindful along the way, please take time to notice the view from the path, the smell of the salt in the air, the sound of the sea and wildlife ... being totally present as you walk will help to reduce stress levels and allow you to relax and feel a deep sense of peace.
