Are you already dreading the onset of the inevitable New Year campaigns that will urge you to strive for a fantastic new figure; a perfect, Feng Shui home; the pursuit of perfection in your career and a rigid new regime of yoga and mindful meditation? If this annual quest for the ‘New You’ is beginning to wear you down, yet you still wish to make positive and meaningful change in your life, read on.
Belfast based Life & Career Coach and Training Consultant Nicola Thompson has long since folded away her Superwoman cape and can’t remember the last time she set a New Year’s resolution. Instead, she works on setting goals with soul, adopting a growth mindset, being kind to herself and taking inspired action. A Trainer for almost 20 years with a Diploma in Stress Management and NLP Practitioner certification, she has decided to distil content from many of her courses, and much of her own learning, into a self-development programme that will assist others to do something similar. On their own terms. Nicola is strongly of the belief that we don’t need to be fixed; nor do we need to start over from scratch.
“To disregard the lessons learned from our lives is such a waste” affirms Nicola, “we’re all perfectly imperfect and bring something unique to the world. Of course, a new calendar year is a natural time to take stock, but let’s build on the wealth of experiences and learning that we have amassed; ditch regrets, self-blame and ‘shoulding’ and move forward with a plan and realistic actions that direct us towards our own dreams; not others’ views of what they should be. We all have the resources within ourselves to make positive lasting change, sometimes it just takes a little support, direction and community”.
