Join Jampa Ling NI in their (mostly) monthly meditation class

Jampa Ling Northern Ireland (or JLNI for short) brings a meditation class to Maitri Studio (mostly monthly but dates announced in advance).

If you would like to learn techniques to meditate and calm the mind, reduce stress and tension in your mind and body and bring a peaceful and relaxed awareness to your everyday life why not join us?

We aim to meet on the first Tuesday or Sunday of each month, but please do keep an eye out for any changes of days as due to other regular classes at the Studio this cannot always be guaranteed.

Confirmed classes are:

During the class, you can expect an introduction to sitting meditation covering posture motivation and several techniques to help concentration on the breathe. Afterwards there will be a guided meditation on generic topics such as self awareness, developing love and compassion, cultivating happiness, freedom from suffering etc.

Beginners welcome. This is an inclusive, interfaith class open to all creeds or none and suitable for everyone.

Minimum donation £3 to cover room hire, although if you would like to donate more you are most welcome as we are a registered charity.

Jampa Ling means place of loving kindness and our group is affiliated to the Jampa Ling Tibetan Buddhist Centre in Co. Cavan. The spiritual director of JL is venerable Panchen Otrul Rinpoche. Rinpoche is an honorific term meaning precious one. Rinpoche has been a Tibetan Buddhist monk since childhood and has the highest PhD in Buddhist philosophy. He was asked by his Irish students of Buddhism to be spiritual director of JL in Ireland in 1990 and has been teaching there ever since. The patron of JL is His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

About Lucy, the group facilitator

"My name is Lucy Lee Bannon. I have been a Tibetan Buddhist student for approximately 18 years. Rinpoche has been the most compassionate and wonderful and inspiring teacher throughout those years and continues to inspire me today."

"I have been facilitating meditation classes on a voluntary basis for Jampa Ling NI for the past 10 years. Previously on Malone Road and then Ballynafeigh Community Centre and we’re delighted to be at Maitri Studio Belfast."
