Iyengar yoga training with level 3 teachers Claire Ferry & Ann Traynor

This is the professional development day, run as an Exchange of Learning (EOL) programme, for Iyengar yoga teachers and trainees in Northern Ireland, and from elsewhere if this date suits you - you'd be very welcome! In person only at Maitri Studio. We'll be covering the EOL day set out by the IYUK Professional Development Committee.

This year the theme is ‘Yoga for All Bodies’. The day will focus on exploring practical approaches, and reflexive thought processes, that develop Iyengar yoga classrooms, practice environments and communities to be diverse, body positive and inclusive. We will experience how adaptations are a key to ‘yoga for all
bodies’. Adaptations are an important part of Iyengar yoga not only for those who encounter difficulties. During the day, and as part of ongoing self study, we explore some of the effects of unconscious and conscious biases on behaviour and language as we nurture collective knowledge of what we can do to develop inclusion. 

These EOL days are a strength of the yoga teaching community within the Iyengar method where we can develop collectively, growing our teaching environment and community. By welcoming ‘difference’, we embed the yogic principle of Ahimsa: cultivating non-violence and compassion in thoughts, words and deeds towards all living things.

The event offers a great learning opportunity for all teachers and trainee teachers to share knowledge and experience in a friendly environment.
