Inversions 1.0 Recruiting Strength: A Jivamukti Yoga Belfast workshop

After a fantastic workshop at Santosha Yoga Studio, I'm pleased to offer an Inversions workshop at the beautiful Maitri Studio in Belfast.

Scared of going upside down? Don’t get enough time upside down in your yoga classes? Let’s slow down from vinyasa rhythm and look at inversions in greater detail.

In this workshop we will work with partners and props such as blocks, the wall, and belts to recruit strength and guide us into the correct alignment so that the body memory will register it and you can realign inversions in a more dynamic class yourself.

We will work mostly with fundamentals to safely come into headstand (salamba shirshasana), forearm stand (pincha mayurasana), handstand variation and full version (adho mukha vrikshasana), and shoulderstand (salamba sarvangasana).

The workshop will finish with a guided meditation and deep relaxation to leave you feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and ready for the week ahead.

“When upside down, our relationship with reality has flipped and can bring about fear or even a feeling of unworthiness or weakness. When inversions are practiced safely, and with clear guidance, fear dissipates and strength increases” (Jules Febre)

About Me:
I started my yoga practice in 2013 when I moved to Shanghai. I was very inflexible and stiff at the beginning, and am a huge believer that anybody can begin a yoga practice. After four years in Shanghai I flew to India to complete the 300-Hour Jivamukti Teacher Training. I then spent six months completing an 800-Hour Apprenticeship at Jivamukti Yoga Barcelona under the guidance of advanced teacher Maria Macaya.

I returned to my hometown of Belfast in October 2017 and have begun teaching at various studios in Northern Ireland. My classes are challenging but accessible, and always work towards a peak pose to allow students to develop functional awareness and express themselves through their own yoga journey. We flow, but we pay attention to alignment, and you should leave class feeling stretched, challenged, and with a sense of rejuvenation.
