As a Holistic Dentist my motto is '' Where your Inner Smile meets your Outer Smile"©
Safe mercury removal is an essential part of your assessment but there are many other aspects of Holistic Dentistry that need to be taken into consideration. Your overall health and wellbeing is linked to your bite, jaw position, posture, breathing, gum disease, toxic exposure and past medical history.
A Holistic viewpoint also means that the order of treatment is considered as important as what the treatment is. A patient should be properly prepared before Mercury fillings are changed or a bite guard or orthodontic appliance is fitted. To provide as comprehensive service as possible I will often work in conjunction with other Holistically minded Practitioners such as Acupuncturists, Chiropractors, Cranial Osteopaths, Osteopaths, Doctors, Naturopaths and Nutritionalists.
The long term exposure to the release of mercury from old fillings can have a negative effect on your health. I recommend that they are safely removed. As a Fellow of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology I follow their recommended protocols (www.iaomt.org) and additionally use Homotoxicological remedies to individualise your treatment plan. The chronic release of molecules of inflammation can contribute to the weakening of the immune system.
A beautiful healthy smile can be achieved through the use of biocompatible materials. You will be offered BPA free white fillings, all porcelain veneers or crowns, cerec/zirconia restorations or a mixture of different Orthodontic techniques to achieve whatever your desired goal of treatment is. While good health is always the main goal of any treatment plan, please feel free to discuss any cosmetic concerns or any aspects of a smile makeover that you may feel relevant to your particular aims. A nice Healthy Smile is always a good start to the day.
As a Holistic Dentist I do not believe in needlessly removing children's teeth just to straighten them. Crowded teeth can be a result of an under development of the Jaws and with the use of gentle forces this development can be re-established without the need to amputate teeth. Teeth can then be straightened using various orthodontic approaches. This approach can also be applied to straighten Adult teeth or help in the treatment of Snoring or Sleep Apnoea.
Grinding or Clenching of the teeth can be a sign of stress or an underlying emotional issue. It can also be due to muscular imbalance in the spinal column, for example, after a whiplash injury. Research also shows that a clicking in your jaw can also be a contributing factor to Migraines and Headaches. To help improve their overall performance by 10-15% Olympic athletes and Sports Stars are wearing custom made bite guards. This can also be used to quicken their recovery time from injuries or help prevent them occuring in the first place. I like to take an Integrated Approach by working closely with my fellow professionals for the benefit of the patient.
The three pillars of Homotoxicology/Bio-regulatory medicine are:
1. Detoxification and drainage
2. Regulation of your immune system
3.Cellular activation and regeneration
Through the use of low dose remedies the Biological terrain and organs of detoxification are supported and strengthened before active detoxification is started. This approach touches on all aspects of Psycho-neuro-endocrine-immunology (PNEI0, i.e. your emotions/spiritual beliefs are linked to your immune system, your nervous system and your hormonal system).
So " Happy Organs make Happy Teeth" and vice versa.
